Ferdinand Barbedienne is the most fruitful foundryman of the 19th century. He is a creator of the system of smelting to cylinders, to realize reductions of her big masterpieces.
Several Ferdinand Barbedienne's works are today in the Lounges of the Palais Royal, in the Elisée and in the Museum d'Orsay of Paris.

Marked by the mode of the II Empire, Barbedienne fulfilled different models of Matrons, being based on the models of the Rome and the Greece Classic.

In occasions also they endure the signature of another sculptor what means that the foundryman was not buying the work and that he was working to the service of another artist.
